Knocked Up!!!

Yup, it’s true. I have spawned and am currently growing a little girl baby in my belly. My boyfriend and I are ridiculously excited about the arrival of our first daughter. I had a really rough first trimester, so I’ve been a little MIA until recently. My morning sickness was so gnarly that I really couldn’t eat much of anything for about two months. I lost 28 lbs, my blood pressure dropped, I had heart palpitations when I stood, and I got put on bed rest for almost a month. It got so intense at one point, we thought we might lose her. Yep. It was bad. Really bad. Luckily, I am blessed with an amazingly awesome birth team, led by the incredible badass midwife Renee Hanevold, and her two super rad assistant midwives, Rebekkah( I hope I’m spelling that right) and Kim. They helped me every step of the way and now I feel great and am back to work! Which brings me to you guys, my clients and/or possible future clients. So, I’m KILLING THE BOOKING DATE THING until after I pop. You can just call the shop or stop by to set appointments. I don’t want to start any big projects until after I come back. When I say big, I’m talking sleeves and back pieces and such. I’m cool with stuff that takes about 3 sessions to finish. Right now, I have appointments available in September and October. I’m still taking $100, nonrefundable deposits. They go toward the total cost of your tattoo, though. I don’t know how much time I’ll be taking off. Ideally, I’d love to go for 6 months, but we’re both self employed, so I may be back part time much sooner than that. I’ll keep you guys posted. Oh, and if anybody else out there is pregnant and looking for a midwife, please check out Midwife Prose. Also, I’ve been taking a prenatal yoga class that is bomb at Fusion. Callson Manor Fire

It’s that spooky time of year again and I’m ready to celebrate with fire! Last year, Obsidian Butterfly performed at Callson Manor, the haunted house in the Placer County Fairgrounds. We’ve been invited back and we’re bringing a whole new show to the stage! Unfortunately, with my overloaded school/work schedule, I’m only free to light up 2 of the 10 nights this year. I’ll be out this Friday and Saturday though. So come out, watch the show and get chased by chainsaws and zombies! I promise it’ll be a scream!

Why Deposits?

When you come in to book an appointment at Leonardi Tattoo for me or any of the other artists, you’ll be asked to leave some money up front for a deposit. Deposits are pretty standard now in this industry. They are our insurance that you are as serious as we are about showing up for your appointment. Also, if you were planning on getting a custom piece, chances are we have spent time designing it for you, so we’ve already done some work for you. When we set aside an appointment time for you, that means those hours are now unavailable to other potential clients. If you decide the morning of your tattoo appointment that you have cold feet and don’t show up, the deposit goes in our pocket as compensation for time lost. All the artists at Leonardi work off of commission so if you’re not there, we don’t get paid.
Here’s all you need to know about deposits:
Deposits are non-refundable.
We require 48 hours notice for a cancellation. If you cancel with proper notice, the deposit is transferred to hold your next appointment. If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, the deposit is forfeited and we will ask that you leave another deposit to hold all other appointments.
The amount of your deposit is taken off the total amount due for your tattoo. If you have set multiple appointments, the deposit is retained until your final appointment, where it comes off the price of that last appointment.
Effective immediately: the cost of the deposit is now $100. Jennifer and I really don’t do tattoos that take less than an hour anymore anyway so it doesn’t make sense to have the deposit rate set at the shop minimum of $80.
We accept cash, Visa and Mastercard for deposits.

4th Annual Fire Spectacular!!!

Join Obsidian Butterfly and friends at William Land Park this coming Saturday, August 13th for a whole evening of dancing, music and of course, the sacred art of fire dancing! The event begins at 7 pm with vending, live bands and non fire performances. As the sun goes down around 8, we light up! I’m super excited about this! We’ve really been working hard to fine tune some of our pieces from the past as well as developing new dances to share with you. Also, we’ve been promoting the event pretty hard. Much gratitude for all those who set appointments this Saturday! I was happy to see a lot of familiar faces making their way back to start new projects as well as the new folks just beginning their odyssey into body art. The books are officially closed again until Aug 20th. It’ll be the same drill as always. I’m going back to school though, so my time will be limited. Anyway, many blessings and many thanks again!
